JULY

PRESENTATION & PUBLICATION OF PAPER IN PORTUGAL

The paper presented at the Sharing Cultures 2011 Conference in Tomar, Portugal entitled “New forms of identity among Goan transnationals in the 21st Century” examined the demise of village-based identity and the rise of  a state-based identity and the Saint Francis Xavier cult among Goans of the diaspora.

VISITING ASSISTANT RESEARCHER IN CHINA

Invited by the Chinese Maritime Museum to conduct research into China and the development of shipping lines from the UK, Germany, France, Japan and US in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries (1840-1911).
